U.S. Tariffs Impact on Security System Costs
The recent U.S. Government-imposed tariffs have begun to impact the cost of both home and commercial fire and security systems. While the trade war is beyond our control, Delco Alarm Systems is actively looking at ways to keep costs stable. Our sales team is negotiating with suppliers and looking at alternative sourcing options to maintain stable pricing levels.
Unfortunately, as the full impact of the tariffs take hold, some price adjustments are unavoidable. While many of our products are made in the U.S., the raw materials needed to produce these products are made overseas.
Recently, the Security Industry Association (SIC) sent a letter to the U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick requesting relief from tariffs on security industry products. Some of the tariff exemptions SIC asked for include those on camera systems, access panels and communication equipment.
