Seasons Greetings from Delco Alarm Systems
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or simply the Winter Solstice, we hope your holidays are filled with family, friends and joy. In the rush and bustle of the holidays, it’s easy to let some things go by the wayside. Since it’s our business to keep you and your family safe, here are a few quick tips to make sure it is a joyous holiday for all.
FIRE SAFETY
Whether it is a plate of cookies or Aunt Tina’s homemade lasagna, we look forward to our family’s traditional holiday food. As many of us will be doing much of the cooking at home, we suggest you give your fire and smoke detectors a quick check to make sure they are working properly. Also, make sure you have the proper fire extinguishers on hand. And don’t forget to make sure everyone in your home is familiar with an escape plan in the event there is a fire emergency.
DOORBELL CAMERAS
With so many packages and food orders being delivered these days, porch pirates are on the prowl. These thieves often follow delivery trucks to homes, wait till they leave, then swipe packages. Your doorbell camera is a deterrent. Thieves would rather hit a house without one than risk being caught on camera.
FURNACES, FIREPLACES AND SPACE HEATERS
As the December chill sets in, we fire up our home’s heaters and fireplaces. We also occasionally use space heaters inside as well. It is important to keep everything in good working order. Change your heater’s filter at least monthly, don’t toss fireplace ashes in the trash and keep clothing and other items away from space heaters. Carbon monoxide detectors are crucial. Make sure you have one on each floor. Because CO mixes with air, place the detector about six feet high on a wall, not the ceiling. In the spirit of the holidays, perhaps your family could make a donation to a food bank, such as Delco Food Project, the Red Cross or Salvation Army. No matter how small, your generosity will truly help a family in need this holiday season.
Delco Alarm Systems hope you enjoy the holidays and have a happy and healthy 2024!
