A home security system can be a critical component in keeping your home and loved ones safe and secure. Over the years, such systems likely included sensors on your doors and windows, motion detectors and smoke detectors. As security systems evolved, cameras and smart phone features were added. Now, homeowners can protect against water leaks by adding a whole house water shut-off valve controller.
This new feature works in conjunction with smart security systems and existing water shut-off valves many homeowners already have installed. These new devices detect water leaks around your home and automatically shuts off the main water valve, stopping additional damage.
Water Detector
These devices are placed around your home in locations where you may get a water leak. Areas include, under sinks, around a water heater and in your basement. When any of these sensors detect water a signal is sent to the smart security panel. The panel sends a signal to the valve control and shuts off the water. It will also send a notification to your smart phone that a leak was detected.
Water Valve Controller
The device attaches to your main water valve, although it does not work on gate valves. It is then plugged into an electrical outlet and programmed into the smart panel. When a signal is received from one of the water detectors, it closes off the water valve. The valve can be opened and closed from the smart panel.
Smart Panel
The new whole home water shut-off valve works with the Qolsys Smart Security Panels. Delco Alarm Systems can upgrade most security systems to work with the Qolsys panel.
