Congratulations and best wishes to long-time employee Bruce S. who recently retired after 38-plus years with Delco Alarm Systems.
Bruce, who began his full-time career at Delco Alarm Systems in October 1980, was the company’s go-to service technician for the past few years. No matter what was thrown his way, Bruce was always a true professional.
A Long Career with Delco Alarm Systems
He started working with Delco Alarm Systems on a part-time basis while holding a full-time job at Westinghouse in Essington. At the time, the late Donald I. Culp, who founded Delco Alarm Systems, saw Bruce’s work ethic and offered him a full-time job.
Second generation owner Don Culp praised Bruce for his dedication and loyalty over the years.
“Bruce is one of the pillars that built this company,” Culp said. “He is like family.”
Culp said Bruce’s contributions to Delco Alarm Systems will not soon be forgotten.
“A true craftsman”
Throughout the decades he spent with the family-owned business, Bruce worked on all facets of the security profession. From installing security, fire, access and camera systems, Bruce could always be counted on to complete the job to each customer’s satisfaction.
Service Manager John Porter first met Bruce in 1978, when Bruce was employed part-time for Delco Alarm Systems.
“Bruce has a reputation for being the king of fishing wires within the walls,” Porter said. “He is a true craftsman with wire concealment.”
Office staffer Diana Schreffler worked with Bruce for more than 31 years. She called him “the nicest, sweetest man she’s ever known.
“Bruce, be happy, adventurous, not too daring, but most of all enjoy your retirement. You certainly deserve it,” she said. “You will be truly missed.”
A long-time resident of Concord Township, Pa., Bruce is the married father of two grown children and a new grandfather.
Boy Scout, Outdoorsman and Family Man
He is very active with the Boy Scouts. One of his favorite events with the scouts was the annual pancake breakfast, held at Elam Church in Concord Township.
An avid outdoorsman, Bruce enjoys kayaking, camping and hiking. He plans to share his retirement years with his wife Patty, traveling and spending time with his new grandchild.
Porter said that customers who call frequently request Bruce for their service call.
“I wish Bruce all the joy and happiness in his retirement and congratulate him on his first grandchild,” Porter said.
The entire Delco Alarm Systems family will miss Bruce and wishes him the best in his retirement.
