HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
As you gather around the Thanksgiving table to break bread and swap family stories, don’t forget to take stock of all of which you are thankful. New babies, a promotion at work, or a well-earned vacation, perhaps. Big things are wonderful, but even something as simple as watching a beautiful sunrise with a hot cup of coffee can be a reason to be grateful. Thanksgiving is a great time to show our gratitude by sharing with others. Too many families across the Delaware Valley struggle with food insecurity, homelessness and other problems. One way to show gratitude for our happiness is to share the wealth. There are a number of food pantries across the region who assist families during this time of year. There are also numerous coat drives, toy drives and other agencies who assist families in need during the holiday season and throughout the year. Several are listed below:
Delaware County Interfaith Food Assistance Network: A network of food pantries throughout Delaware County. Coordinated by Family and Community Service of Delaware County.
Philabundance: Leading the Fight Against Hunger: Partners with more than 350 community organizations to distribute food in southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey.
The Salvation Army in Chester, Pennsylvania Delaware County Family Service Center – Chester (Catholic Social Services) Community Action Agency of Delaware County, Inc.
Whether it be watching a college football game or helping to prepare dinner, we hope you enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with loved ones. One final reminder: If you are going to be away from home during the holidays, be sure to lock your windows and doors and set your security system before you leave. Delco Alarm Systems can also help you turn your home into a “smart home” making it easier to keep an eye on things while you are away. The staff at Delco Alarm Systems wishes you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving.
