Concerns about customer and employee safety as well as staying afloat financially have put a
strain on nearly all businesses this year. Because of COVID-19 restrictions many companies now require their employees to work remotely.
Offices, stores, warehouses and even outdoor parking areas are often left vacant for extended periods of time.
Take steps to secure your business and make sure it doesn’t fall victim to criminals.
The staff at Delco Alarm Systems has a few tips that could keep your business secure during
these trying times.
SECURITY SYSTEMS
If you have a security system, use it to its fullest. Consider getting a system installed if your
business is not protected.
If your security system is monitored, check with the monitoring station to make sure everything
is working properly. If your system is not monitored, consider doing so. Also, make sure all of
your contact information is up-to-date in the event of a problem.
You might also want to have a security professional check your system for possible changes,
such as new camera angles or additional door or window contacts. Don’t forget the parking
areas, especially if you have equipment stored in parked vehicles.
Cameras are especially useful when you are off site, giving you the ability to keep an eye on
your business from your smartphone or computer.
If your employees are alone in your place of business, consider installing a panic button in the
event of an emergency.
SECURE ACCESS
If your employees use access control panels, consider limiting the number of people able to do
so. If your business has multiple points of access, limit those as well. All of these changes can
be reversed in the future.
SMART SYSTEMS
If your place of business is temporarily closed, take advantage of smart technology. You can
program your lights, heating system and other devices from a smartphone. Water detectors are
also invaluable as they can alert you to a broken pipe or other water emergency.
